Max, Competition, Ultimate, Pro, FT-R. The MCD line of RC cars are gaining a lot more popularity and being seen more often on social media like instagram, YouTube, TikTok and more. The MCD line of cars is fairly comprehensive with many different spec levels. This blog post is to help simplify the line so you can choose the best MCD RC Car for you.
What makes an MCD Car a "Max" version?
MCD offers two different wheelbases for each car. There is a short version; then a "Max" length. The Max offers a bit more space in the chassis with the extra length happening on the rear part of the chassis. From the center forward, the standard length and Max cars are identical. You will sometimes see MCD cars classified as "1/4" scale and "1/5" scale; those differentiate from the short and long wheelbases. The longer wheelbase cars make it easier to fit things like a high performance Taylor RC Big Bore engine. Short wheelbase cars are also classified as "Competition" spec models. More on those different levels and what is included later in the article.

What is a "Max Pro" or FT-R or Ultimate? How are they different?
If an MCD car is a Max wheelbase model it will fall under one of three different spec levels. There is the Max Pro, Max FT-R, and Max Ultimate. While being longer in wheelbase you get a few upgrades included. The key differences you will see will be related to the shocks, differentials, and other alloy chassis upgrades. The Max Pro is our most popular selling version for those who want to install bigger more powerful engines and do more heavy bashing. Limited slip differential in the front, planetary rear differential with a solid locked diff (spool or "lock bar") in the center. The FT-R is aimed for those who are doing more formal organized races. It has some alloy upgrade parts but still is focused on being more lightweight. A limited slip differential is added to the center, while keeping an LSD in the front and planetary gear diff in the rear. Hard anodized alloy suspension arms, front and rear hubs and caster blocks are added. Other alloy parts like chassis stiffeners are added. The Ultimate spec raises the FT-R and includes nearly every alloy optional upgrade offered by MCD. These include the Pro-Bite MCD Clutch, complete alloy shocks, lightweight alloy turnbuckles. Adjustable limited slip differentials are found in front, center, and rear. You can always review the Features and Specifications on each car listing to see what is included.

Which level of MCD RC Car should I choose?
Our most popular models are the Competition spec as they are very affordable and perform very well out of the box. The entire catalog of upgrades from higher trim levels are all compatible making these a great choice! For those that want to push the limits of the car a bit further the Max Pro is our next most popular choice. This is an ideal starting point if you want to install a high powered Taylor RC or ALX RC Engine. The savings for the chassis cost give you a chance to install better suited heavy duty upgrades like those offered from Taylor RC for the MCD line of cars. If you want to keep your MCD car lightweight but high spec trim with tons of option parts, or if you are considering more formal organized racing then the FT-R or Ultimate Spec will be a great option to consider!
